APPLY NOW: SEQ Extraordinary Disaster Assistance Recovery Grants

Extraordinary Disaster Assistance Recovery Grants are available to assist directly impacted small businesses, primary producers and non-profits with the costs of clean-up and reinstatement.

What is available?

• Grants of up to $50,000 to eligible applicants available for directly impacted businesses following South East Queensland Rainfall and Flooding. Up to $15,000 is available to support an initial claim, with up to $35,000 available to support subsequent claims. This grant can be used for clean-up activities, repairs including damage to equipment, flooring, and walls, and to replace lost stock.
• Grants of up to $75,000 are available for affected producers following South East Queensland Rainfall and Flooding to hire or purchase equipment and materials, clean up, remove debris, replace fencing and other costs associated with the recovery process.
• Grants of up to $50,000 are available for affected non-profit organisations following South East Queensland Rainfall and Flooding to hire or purchase equipment and materials, clean up, remove debris, repair or replace damaged infrastructure or goods and other costs associated with the recovery process.

Eligibility criteria

Grants are available for directly impacted small business, primary producers and non-profits however we have focused this information for small business owners. The eligibility criteria is:

• be a small business owner (sole trader, partnership, trust or Pty Ltd)
• hold an Australian Business Number (ABN) and have held that ABN at the time of the SEQ Rainfall and Flood event which took place between 22 February – 7 March 2022.
• own a small business located in the defined disaster area that has suffered direct damage as a result of the SEQ Rainfall and Flood event
• have been operating your businesses as per normal when the SEQ Rainfall and Flood event occurred
• be primarily responsible for meeting the costs claimed in your application
• intend to re-establish your small business in the defined disaster area (one of the below 19 local government areas) for the eligible disaster.

Small business applicants outside of the defined disaster area might be eligible for an exceptional circumstances grant if both of the following apply:

• the small business operated at least sometimes on a regular basis in the defined disaster area; and
• plant or equipment of the small business situated in the defined disaster area has been damaged as a result of the eligible disaster.

What documents do I need to provide with my applications?

1. Rates Notice / Lease Agreement

• Your small business must be located within a defined disaster area. If you own the property, please attach a copy of your most recent Local Government rates notice for the property impacted by the disaster event.
• If you lease the property, please attach a copy of your current lease agreement (lease agreement must confirm that you are responsible for meeting the costs being claimed).

2. Photographs of damage

• 5 – 10 photographs evidencing direct damage

3. Evidence of payment

• For grant applications up to $15,000 (i.e. for immediate resumption of business directly following the disaster event): Copies of tax invoices or quotes/estimates

OR

• For grant applications over $15,000 or subsequent applications up to $50,000:
• Copies of tax invoices AND evidence that these invoices have been paid (e.g. bank statements, electronic bank transfer confirmations or official supplier receipts).

4. Details of insurance

• If insured, full details and a copy of your insurance policy and/or claim must be provided. Please be aware QRIDA may be unable to finalise your Disaster Assistance Grant application until the outcome of your insurance claim is determined and claim outcome is provided.

The Minister for Fire and Emergency Services has activated disaster assistance for South East Queensland Rainfall and Flooding, 22 February – 7 March 2022.
